Hmm you say to yourself, Oly, as in the nickname for Olympia the city, or as in Oly the nickname for the Olympia Brewing Company? How about BOTH! And even then some.
A little back story if I may. One of the first things I made clear to Adam when we talked about this move was that the minute I stepped foot in the door at our new place I was going to put down my bags and march right over to the humane society. Needed a dog, had to have a dog, had waited WAY too long to get a dog. Seattle friends asked me, “Why would you want to move to Olympia?” And my answer was always, “Because I can finally get a dog, duh.”
So, here we are, not even official home owners yet (April 10th we close!) and I am so stealthy I already have a pup picked, named, and just waiting to move in.
Before we got to meet Oly we mulled over dog names.
“How about Rain. You know, because we live in rain central USA.”
“Absolutely no way.”
“Ummmm what about Blue?”
“Dixie? May? Dawn? Rena? Honey?”
“OMG! Woman you are insane! NO, NO, NO, NO, and NO.”
It seems something Adam and I definitely do not agree on are adorable puppy names. But, after more and more pondering, and me getting shot down a LOT, we finally picked Oly. Not only does it represent our move to this new city, but it also pays tribute to Olympia Brewing Company (I mean come on she’s even yellow, the color of beer!), and it sounds adorable to boot. Can’t beat that. A bit of back story, and it’s adorable.
Now if only I didn’t have to wait 10 more days before bringing her home…
