For the first time in I don't know how long, this year I had ZERO Halloween plans. See, Adam HATES Halloween. Which I can sort of see, I mean he was mugged by high school kids when he was 10, had his candy and clothes taken and then watched his friend get beaten with a sack full of candy. That would probably turn me off to the holiday as well.
Just to clarify, I am not the kind of girl who just decides that since my boyfriend doesn't like a holiday, I don't either. PLEASE. Believe me, I tried to find somewhere else to go. And I almost did head off to other lands to partake in Halloween nonsense, but then there was this thing that has come up in my life, this exciting thing that I can't wait to tell you all about that sort of is a little expensive, so I caved. Fun dress up, drunken in a bar somewhere Halloween plans flew to the wayside to make way for this new exciting, sort of scary experience I am getting ready to embark on.
Anyway, with no plans in the name of saving, and a man who HATES Halloween I am pretty impressed that I still managed to drag Adam to a real live pumpkin patch. That sort of coercion takes serious skill people.
LOOK! I even ended up in a picture while I was there! That never happens. Most days I worry that when I'm old I'll look back on my life and see millions of shots of EVERYONE ELSE but myself. If I happen to end up with Alzheimer's I'm doomed because I wont even have pictures for people to point at repeatedly and say, "Remember this Ashley? Remember when you thought it was ok to wear your hair like that even though everyone told you that you looked ridiculous?" I take that back. Maybe it's better there will be little to no evidence.
Except not this time. This time I forced a photo opt. Here's to me, showing up in my own memories.
Not even joking, we looked over and the seed was on her nose. It's like she is aware of the phrase 'Kodak Moment.'
I made a UW pumpkin, Adam a University of Utah pumpkin, and Oly, well she got her own special baby pumpkin. I think she really appreciated being included. These pumpkins were totally worth the effort because we were able to hear THREE different sets of parents tell us how cool our pumpkins were. Oh, and handing out candy to little kids wasn't half bad either.
Halloween, you were different this year, but wonderful none the less.

YAY for getting a photo of you to commemorate the day! And love the pumpkins. I didn't carve any this year. Didn't decorate, didn't dress up. Heck, a friend text'd me Happy Halloween and I had to look at the calendar; I'd completely forgotten.
Next year, in honor of Adam's past, I think you should hand out pepper spray. Just sayin'. ;)

jen, I know what you mean. I forgot all about the day until saturday morning. The only reason we even ended up at the pumpkin patch was because we drove past it while doing other errands!
Carving pumpkins and handing out candy was so fun Adam even agreed to dress up the front of the house with a few black lights and orange christmas lights next year! Slowly but surely I think I can bring him around. :)

Your dog has been reading Dooce. She wants to be Chuck.

Amy, you might be on to something.
No wonder each time I come home my background has been changed to pictures of Chuck with stuff on his nose. All this time I thought Adam was messing with me, and turns out my dog is in love...

Yay Halloween! I personally love the holiday, and my many many years of ridiculous costumes obviously reflect my quirky personality. Anyway, I LOVE love love your pumpkin patch photo! It appears very New England. I know you LOVE wearing that sweater too Ashley. I remember how we obsessed over our sweatshirts and sweaters and waited for fall to come when we were running around on the beach during the summer. And how you always do this shoulder shrug, head to the side thing when you try one one. I know you know what I'm talking about. :) You belong in Washington for sure.
Did you guys get trick or treaters?! I cant wait to tag along with kids when I'm old, and squeeze in on their action, and perhaps steal some of those flavored tootsie rolls I enjoy so much.
Well, I love this entry, and to big thumbs up on your pumpkins! I'm impressed that oly has the dexterity to make one of her own, but, then again she is talented! Happy Fall! Here comes Thanksgiving....

JOY, I love that one of my quirks that has stayed with you is my 'shrug head tilt' when trying on clothes thing! And speaking of clothes, you must know one of the reasons I moved to WA was to finally wear my peacoat and scarf in weather not suited for sun bathing! That first year in WA the only thing I bought were sweaters and scarves. That reminds me, I should probably get more...
