Why you go home for a week to visit your mother, who is essentially your wedding coordinator, and you knock out 99% of all the details in a single sitting.
It took my father's wisdom for me to plan this trip. He asked me if I thought I could come home before the wedding and I sadly told him all my vacation needed to be hoarded for our wedding week and honeymoon. He then kindly reminded me that HI, I work from home. Fly in on a weekend, work during the week from home, fly out the next weekend.
WHY DID IT TAKE ME 2+ YEARS OF WORKING FROM HOME TO FIGURE THIS OUT?
So this week is all about wedding. I am flying to sunny sunny sunny no-snow California to work from home during the day and then immediately get off work and begin crafting, DIYing and playing with glitter. My mother is in charge of table arrangements and apparently has bought all sorts of thrifted items we're going to arrange on tables, experiment with vases, and generally bundle up baby's breath while playing with glitter for a week straight. We're building the ceremony backdrop for the wedding, picking out fabric, going to thrift stores looking for antique frames, and painting windows.
Although on one hand this trip right before I move to Chicago is sort of ill timed, it's also perfectly timed. Chicago, you already stole all the oxygen out of the room from my wedding, now I'm stealing back a single week to refocus.
And now, the pretties. Here is some of my inspiration and some of the crafts that my mom and I will be working on this week:
