Now that we talked wedding dress, let’s see what the groom, groomsmen and bridesmaids rocked at our wedding.
The number one thing Adam wanted at the wedding was to wear a really, really, really nice suit. He’s always drooled over Ari from Entourage’s ability to “suit” and so he knew he wanted to wear an amazing suit, and have it be one he owned. So while in Seattle last fall Adam and his best man went to Nordstrom and wouldn’t you know it, the first suit he tried on was it.
We knew from the get-go that our bridesmaids and groomsmen wouldn’t be all wearing the same thing. They’d look similar, but we liked the look of weddings where people’s individuality showed through. So we decided that when it came to the guys we’d gift them coral ties in different patterns. Adam had one as well and we ordered him custom matching suspenders and a pocket square to round out his look. If I do say so myself, he’s never looked so handsome.
When it came to our groomsmen we knew that having them all in tuxes or suits was going to look really odd at our backyard BBQ wedding. So after looking through LOTS of wedding blogs we started to really like the few weddings we saw where the groomsmen wore dark jeans. Plus, how easy would that be for the guys!
It was finalized that they’d wear dark wash jeans, a white shirt, brown dress shoes, brown suspenders, and one of our custom ties. Just like that our boys were dressed.
Next it was the bridesmaids. The one thing I knew was I couldn’t possibly pick a single dress for all five of my ladies that would look great on each of them and make them feel special. So I opened it up to them and told them to pick a coral dress of their choosing. THEY were the ones that asked to wear cowboy boots which was awesome because I never would have wanted to put them out like that if they hadn’t offered, and I let them choose their own jewelry. Without collaborating they all selected very similar style dresses and almost all choose turquoise jewelry. It was meant to be!
If I do say so myself everyone looked SMASHING, and although asking people to find their own pieces did cause a few people to panic and hoard coral dresses [ahem Naomi, Ashley and Emmaly], and we received a few confused text messages from people being like, IS THIS OK???, in the end I think everyone liked having their own look they picked themselves. At least, that’s what I like to tell myself.
