There are a million and a half decisions that you have to make when planning a wedding, and so many of them you squirrel away and wait to “surprise” and “excite” your guests but then the day comes and it’s so fast and in the end people miss half the things you did, and even if they saw them, they might not know why you did what you did.

Let’s start with the thing the bride thinks of first. The dress.
My dress was the last dress I ever tried on, and I found it in Wasilla, AK of all places. Yes you read that right. In a woman’s garage turned bridal shop, in the town Sarah Palin is famous for being the mayor of, I found THE DRESS. And I wore if for a half hour in the shop before I could bare to take it off and pay.
Here is my bridesmaid Erin and I losing our shit while my seamstress chops it off. FREE HAND.
The dress was the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever worn in the fact that the beautiful lace sleeves were also itchy as all hell, but it was only a day and I was determined to wear the dress all night. I loved everything about it. From the jeweled detail on my waste, to the fact that I actually looked like I had boobs in it, to the two tiers of difference lace as the dress got longer, to the way my cowboy boots peeked out from the bottom, to how it swirled as I danced. Eternal love.
This is part of a series I’m calling Wedding Details where I break down the various choices and elements incorporated in our wedding. See the DIY Wedding Details page for the full series!
