I think my favorite new feature of working in an office is working in an office that does things. Let me clarify.
While working from home for the last three years I often wanted to stab myself in the eye with a rusty nail each time I received an email about the office book club I couldn’t attend, or the pie someone brought from home, or the summer BBQ complete with cocktails I wasn’t partaking in. Sure they spent their hour off awkwardly socializing with coworkers and I spent it watching tv in my pjs and you're probably thinking I got the better end of the deal, but I still always felt like I was missing out.
Now that I’m back in the world of office life one of the things I wanted my new job to have was a fun office culture. And DID I GET IT!
Since starting my new job I’ve attended (or soon will attend) holiday cheese ball competition complete with a fireplace scene projected on the wall, a charity raffle to win a variety of amazing products, holiday craft fair, white elephant, ugly Christmas sweater party, company holiday party at a swanky downtown location, and a Letter’s To Santa program where I was matched with a needy child and given their “Letter to Santa” gift which I will purchase, wrap and send back to the organization.
ALL IN THE PAST 6 WEEKS!
I’ve heard still to come are happy hours, BBQ’s, summer Olympic games, sample sales, various photo booths, themes and more.
I may not be working in my pjs anymore but thankfully I’ve got themed events coming out my ass to look forward to and that's a-ok by me.
